Bluemner Oscar

OSCAR BLUEMNER (18671938) Oscar Bluemner, known for his expressive use of color and Cubist influenced works, was born in 1867 in Hanover, Germany. As a color theorist, Bluemner was interested in how pure color carried emotional and psychological impact. Up until the 1920s, his oil paintings, typically showing blocky buildings and abstract landscape motifs, reveal the influence his architectural studies as well as that of Cubism and American Synchronism, which emphasized the abstract use of color.
